Vinted Shoppers Express Anger Over Sizing Modifications

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.

Social Media Response

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Modifications

Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
